New theme is hideous. Downloaded a FF2 theme to skin it correctly. Toolbars no longer movable (My stumbleupon bar now goes underneath my google toolbar)
Don’t like how the bookmark icon and green “GO TO THIS LINK LOL” arrow is in the URL field.
Can’t seem to customize all the stuff I want in about:config
Drag and dropping Text looks nicer. I like the new fullscreen.
I wish the ctrl+stroll to zoom in and out could be reset by a ctrl+middle click. To reset the zoom, you need to do ctrl+0. If one is using the mouse, why force them to go back to the keyboard.
Hate the new remember Password being a toolbar.
All in all there are not enough improvements and available customization for me to switch on other computers.
Been using the beta version for a while and it’s def faster than the old version and the new bookmark config is better. Would have to disagree with David, I like the new password toolbar. Beats IE anyday.
Yep, uses much less memory in the background. The bookmarks feature is better. The address bar is better and from a web developer’s point of view it rocks. No complaints so far…
I am barely computer literate and I downloaded and am using Firefox 3. So far I really like it.
It all seems so much brighter, clearer and easier to see, a big plus for me!
One thing I’d become accustomed to in my old browser was right clicking and ’sending to gmail’ when i found a website I wanted to share with friends and family. I’m finding it time consuming to copy the address from the navigation bar and paste it into an email on another tab. As I said, I am only barely computer literate (is that even a description any more?)So this could be something I’ve just not figured out. Also I cant play my favorite game while using firefox but I will keep trying to figure it out. (same color on freearcade.com)
Over all, I like it very much.
Thank you all so much and keep up the good work.
DavidL The new theme’s anything but hideous. It looks just fine.
The toolbars are all just as moveable as they ever were. I’ve got my StumbleUpon next to my address bar just like I did with FF2, my navigation buttons and Links bar to the right of the menus.
What’s wrong with the bookmark icon? You don’t say what you don’t like about it. That it exists? How it looks? I find it extremely helpful.
There’s plenty of guides on ways to “fix” much of what you’re complaining about and more using about:config, so you’re just not trying hard enough.
I think the new password manager toolbar is a much more efficient use of space, not to mention it doesn’t bar you from continuing to browse as you contemplate your decision. Big improvement.
Overall, the improvements, especially in performance, are quite large, and there’s no logical reason NOT to upgrade to it.
when is firefox 3 going to be compatible with the imageshack toolbar ? , I’m sick of running over to IE, then back again ,just to post a picture on my blog .
FF3 is the best browser ever - its faster than FF2, the URL-Bar is cool, the zoom works now also for pictures, the new bookmarking-system is great and the Buttons look better
I see the decreased memory usage(It’s about the same as IE now), but the processor usage is still through roof compared to IE7 and 6. The new address bar is incredibly annoying, and isn’t very intuitive. The bookmarking is exactly the same!! They just moved existing features into a better place, but it is an improvement.
it’s the best browser for OSX, for whatever reason. In linux it crashes once every two days or so (flash or not), and on windows i hear it’s sucking some shit (but i wouldn’t know, don’t use windows). Anyway on OSX it’s amazing, stable, and wonderfully skinned (with osx theme). I’m in love love love. Anyway on my linux box it’s still pretty darn stable, but I’ll be staying on the lookout for 3.1
At uni: My profile path contains some unicode (non-ascii) characters and ff3 will not even start! I reverted back to ff2.
At home: keeping a page with flash content on it open for long time (few hours), causes singnificant processor usage. Example (on which I noticed this) is http://www.dota-league.com. If I have this page open (it contains advertisments in flash), and play warcraft 3, after some time framerate starts dropping (from initial 35-40 fps) to 30, then 20, 12, and if there is hughe fight in game, to even 2FPS! Irritates me so much!

It’s 3 times faster, and uses less ram.

I don’t like the new image scaling algotrithm. It doesn’t do any good to pixel art. Example:

Firefox 3 is as bad as Vista for me.
Guess I’ll just stick with XP Pro and FF 2, since it works flawlessly, quite unlike the previously mentioned two programs in line one.
